TSA research project funding well underway, with more to come
Tyre Stewardship Australia has already negotiated funding for over $600,000 of research projects, focussed on developing new technologies and markets for recycled tyre raw material, as part of the over $1.5 million in research funding it is allocating in its first funding round.
With submissions for the initial funding round closing on December 16 interested parties still have time to make an application for projects to take place in 2016.
Funded research projects, with state governments and state authorities as active partners, with industry in a majority of the initial projects, will be announced over the next few weeks.
One of TSA’s core objectives is to help develop a viable local market for recycled tyre raw material as a critical element in addressing the sustainable management challenge presented by the over 51 million end-of-life tyres that Australia generates each year.
Added to the accreditation and reporting program and public education campaign, activities that are already well underway, the research funding is aimed at turning that challenge into a commercial opportunity that will drive both sustainable outcomes and increase economic value.
Parties interested in seeking project funding can learn all about the parameters for application and initiate their submission through the funding section of tyrestewardship.org.au
