What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

The project will demonstrate the positive effects crumb rubber from tyres will have on the flexibility, durability and impermeability of asphalt, and the resulting cost savings to Councils through utilisation of this asphalt additive in lieu of polymer modified binders.

The City of Mitcham will install crumb rubber asphalt over a number of segments on a priority road site, while also installing segments of conventional asphalt mixes both with and without polymer modified binders as controls. This will allow direct comparison of the short term and long term performance of crumb rubber asphalt in the field and allow ongoing monitoring.
