Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) is the not-for-profit organisation that runs Australia's Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (the Scheme). We are a non-government organisation, authorised by the ACCC. We are run by, and work with, the tyre industry and supply chain to help solve the problem of what to do with used tyres in Australia.
Every year, Australia creates a huge number of used tyres – the equivalent of 67 million car tyres in 2023-24. While the majority of Australia's used tyres are recovered and used in productive ways, like making new roads and infrastructure or used as a fuel replacement, too many still end up buried in landfills and mine sites or even illegally stockpiled or dumped in the environment.

TSA’s work is broad, but our main focus is creating new markets for Australia's used tyres. We’ve helped fund over 70 projects to find productive ways to use Australia's recycled tyres. But to do more, we need stronger support from government and all tyre importers and auto brands to make sure every tyre is part of the solution!

Our work is guided by a clear strategy for impact. TSA’s Strategy sets out how we’ll build markets, influence behaviour, and drive higher-order outcomes for Australia’s end-of-life tyres. Grounded in circular economy principles and the waste hierarchy, our strategy focuses on collaboration, innovation, and measurable progress.
