What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

Tackling illegal tyre dumping

Tyre dumping continues to be a critical issue for councils, businesses and communities, and ultimately our environment — particularly in regional, suburban and industrial areas.

TSA is working to raise awareness, influence policy, and drive action on the issue of illegal tyre dumping and stockpiling through data, collaboration and public reporting tools.

In 2023, we published new insights highlighting the scale and cost of illegal dumping across Australia. Using TSA data alongside Snap Send Solve reports and input from the Waste Enforcement Association of Australia, we helped bring national attention to the impact of tyre dumping — and the urgent need for better enforcement and recovery infrastructure.

We actively encourage the public and council staff to report illegal tyre dumping via Snap Send Solve, a free app that allows the public to quickly log incidents with photos and location details. These reports contribute to local investigations and support the need for increased monitoring and funding across municipalities.

TSA also regularly uses its social media channels, media partnerships, and events to call for stronger action by encouraging community vigilance and supporting policies that increase compliance and reduce incentives for unethical and unlawful behaviour.

How to report

Report dumped tyres

Reporting dumped tyres immediately allows us to map hotspots and work with local councils, litter enforcement officers, and retailers to help stop the problem.

You can report dumped tyres using the Snap Send Solve widget below.
