What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

Physical properties of tyre walls in residential housing construction. The aim of the project is to develop resources for designers, architects, engineers, and builders, which will enable end of life (EOL) tyres to be utilised in the construction of “tyre walls” in the built environment, in particular residential home.

This project inspired by the “Earthship” sustainable house concept which utilises EOL tyres for the load bearing wall construction in homes. Approximately 1000 EOL tyres are used in the construction of a typical Earthship home, representing a significant reuse/recycling potential for EOL tyres if the system became more common in Australia.

Tyre Stewardship Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which we live, work, and depend. We acknowledge the unique spiritual and cultural connection, and continuing aspiration that the Traditional Owners have for Country and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
