What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

Tyre Stewardship Australia is proud to share a new initiative being offered to accredited Recyclers – supporting local processing and procurement opportunities.

TSA has contracted Ernst & Young (EY) to develop a 100% Australian program, with the objective to provide verification (via agreed upon procedures) of claims made by TSA participants (Recyclers).

Applies to 100% tyre crumb produced in Australia where 100% of crumb produced comes from Australian generated end of life tyres (EOLT).

The program is focused on the scenario whereby Australian EOLT are collected and processed in Australia and placed on the market (as tyre crumb). This is the first stage of this program, with feedback on other scenarios welcome.

As part of establishing this program, TSA would like to recognise Chip Tyre for assistance to test the program.

How and why participate?

TSA is offering this program now to eligible accredited Recyclers, with funding available for assessments (performed by EY) to the end of June 2022. Assessments involve interview with EY consultant, including provision of requested information/data as evidence to support 100% Australian claim. Please note assessments under the program are conducted on a site by site basis.

Upon satisfying agreed upon procedures, organisations will be provided collateral to share with current and prospective buyers of tyre crumb (valid for 12 months).

Please don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this initiative and set your business apart in the market.

If you would like to discuss the program in more detail, please send an email to getonboard@tyrestewardship.org.au
