What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

Annual Report

If the last year has shown us anything, it’s that Australia is ready for a thriving circular tyre economy.

This is thanks to the people and organisations all along the tyre value chain who, more than ever before, are connecting beyond the traditional boundaries between:

  • Tyre and auto brands.
  • Tyre retailers, mechanics and car dealerships.
  • Used tyre collection and recycling.
  • Manufacturing.
  • Mining.
  • Science and research.

We are proud to work with them all. To support their ideas and help them cultivate the connections they need with each other, with government, with markets, with global operators and new technologies to propel Australia’s circular tyre economy further.

Meet them and see what they have achieved in our 2024-25 Annual Report – now available – which also includes:

  • The state of play of Australia’s tyre circular economy.
  • A call for Federal and State environment ministers to take bold regulatory action.
  • Major achievements in market development, science & research, and education & engagement.
  • Results against key performance indicators.
  • What’s coming up over the next 12 months.

None of the progress made would be possible without the tyre and auto brands that voluntarily contribute to finding sustainable outcomes for Australia’s used tyres, and the 1,700+ accredited participants who maintain their commitment to the responsible management of used tyres.

🌱 Cultivating connections. Driving change. Building a circular future.

Tyre Stewardship Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which we live, work, and depend. We acknowledge the unique spiritual and cultural connection, and continuing aspiration that the Traditional Owners have for Country and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.

Please note: Tyre Stewardship Australia was accredited under the Australian Government Accredited Product Stewardship Scheme from March 2021 to March 2026 and submitted an application for re‑accreditation in January 2026, which is currently under assessment.
