Tyre Stewardship Australia invites mining company professionals to attend the TSA National Off-the-Road (OTR) Mining Tyre & Conveyor Belt Sustainability Forum, to be held on Wednesday, 22 October, as part of the IMARC conference and exhibition in Sydney.
More than 100,000 tonnes of Off the Road (OTR) tyres used by the mining industry are buried (or stockpiled) onsite at mines each year across the country. Although the overall recovery rate of mining tyres is low (less than 5%), TSA is seeing encouraging signs that mining companies are demanding – of themselves and their downstream partners – greater circular outcomes for the valuable resources contained in tyres. If this current trajectory continues, the mining industry will drive significant improvement in the reuse and recycling of tyres in Australia.
The forum continues a national dialogue launched through eight previous mining forums in Perth and Sydney (including Queensland mining industry). These sessions bring together leading mining companies, policymakers, technology innovators, and tyre industry professionals.
Forum highlights include:
This closed-door mining-only event will explore the challenges and emerging opportunities to accelerate the transition toward a circular economy for OTR tyres and conveyor belts.
