What we do

Driving sustainable outcomes for Australia's used tyres is our priority.

We run the national and voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS) to help reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of tyres which reach their end of life in Australia.

Building a Circular Economy for Used Tyres in Regional Queensland - Report

Regional Queensland generates a significant volume of end-of-life (EOL) tyres — yet access to sustainable recovery solutions remains uneven across the state.

This business case, developed by Tyre Stewardship Australia in partnership with Urban EP, explores the opportunities to invest in circular economy infrastructure that supports local jobs, reduces transport costs, and delivers environmental value.

Key features of the report include:

  • EOL tyre generation data across Queensland’s regional hubs
  • Economic modelling of local vs. centralised processing
  • Cost-benefit analysis of circular economy infrastructure investment
  • Recommendations to guide policy, funding and regional planning

This report provides decision-makers, councils, and industry stakeholders with the insights needed to unlock circular value and reduce reliance on long-haul waste transport.

Tyre Stewardship Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land and waterways on which we live, work, and depend. We acknowledge the unique spiritual and cultural connection, and continuing aspiration that the Traditional Owners have for Country and we pay respect to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
