As operators of vehicles and equipment, local governments that manage their tyres responsibly can become accredited participants in the Scheme.
This provides a tangible way of fulfilling their ESG commitments and helps them:
show their rate payers they can trust that used tyres will be managed responsibly and go to productive use
reduce the environmental, social and economic risks of tyres going to waste through landfill, illegal stockpiles and dumping
deter rogue operators
support local manufacturers to produce tyre derived material which can be used to build better roads, sporting fields and many other surfaces and products
help avoid the risk of greenwashing
benefit from market development activities for local business and jobs
