Apply for Crumb Rubber in Council Roads Incentive

Help Fund Your Next Crumb Rubber Road Project!

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) is offering funding to help councils take the next step in using crumb rubber in road construction.

Through the Australian Crumb Rubber Roads Incentive Program, councils can access financial support when using Australian tyre-derived crumb rubber in eligible road projects, helping reduce the cost and perceived risk of first-time adoption while building confidence for future use.

Funding is available across all Australian states and territories for eligible crumb rubber asphalt projects, with spray seal projects eligible in the Northern Territory only.

Councils can receive:

✅ $250 per verified tonne of crumb rubber used

✅ Up to 100 tonnes per council

✅ Up to a maximum of $25,000 in funding per project

✅ Practical support to help establish future use pathways

Why apply?

Crumb rubber is a proven road construction material already used by leading road agencies, councils and contractors across Australia.

The program has been designed to help councils:

  • Introduce crumb rubber into road construction projects
  • Build internal knowledge and confidence
  • Strengthen procurement and specification pathways
  • Support demand for Australian recycled tyre products
  • Create a foundation for ongoing use in future projects

This is more than funding for a single project. It's an opportunity to embed recycled tyre materials into future road delivery programs.

What projects are eligible?

To qualify, projects must:

  • Use crumb rubber supplied by a TSA Accredited Recycler
  • Be approved before works commence
  • Meet applicable standards and specifications
  • Demonstrate a clear delivery pathway
  • Include a plan for ongoing future use

Eligible project types
