Dr Linda Mitchell

Head of Science & Research

Dr Linda Mitchell is a science and research leader with more than 12 years’ experience across chemistry, environmental science, analytical research and science communication. As Head of Science & Research at Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), she leads the development of evidence-based research that supports informed decision-making, innovation and market growth within Australia’s circular tyre economy.

Linda joined TSA in 2020 and works closely with researchers, industry, manufacturers and government stakeholders to build understanding of the opportunities associated with tyre use and resource recovery. Known for her ability to translate complex science into practical insights, she helps strengthen transparency, collaboration and confidence across the tyre value chain while expanding TSA’s open-access research library.
Linda’s background spans analytical chemistry, environmental science, physics, research and education.

Linda’s expertise includes tyre composition and performance, environmental impacts, life cycle assessments, resource recovery technologies and reporting standards. She is particularly experienced in tyre-derived material applications, tyre processing technologies such as devulcanisation, and identifying research-driven opportunities that support innovation, commercialisation and sustainable resource recovery.
